Behavior).
trabalho, o desempenho extrapapel e a customização do trabalho docente; (2) investigar o
no trabalho e o desempenho extrapapel.
trabalho, maior é o desempenho extrapapel e maior é a customização do trabalho docente;
quanto maior é customização do trabalho, maior é o desempenho extrapapel; e a customização
trabalho no professor. The present study aims to be a contribution to understand the relationship between work engagement and performance of extra-role behavior, as a dimension of civic virtues of OCB (Organizational Citizenship Behaviour). The objectives of the study were: (1) investigation on the relationship between work engagement, performance of extra-role behaviors and job crafting of teaching, (2) investigation on the potential mediating role of teaching job crafting in the relationship between work engagement and performance of extra-role behaviors. The sample - 84 teachers from the region of Lisbon and Tejo Valley, teaching the 2nd and 3rd public basic education cycles - filled out a questionnaire at the end of the 1st. and 3rd. school terms of 2011/2012. Consistently with our hypotheses, the results showed that the higher the work engagement indexes, the better the performance of extra-role behaviors and higher the job crafting of teaching; also the higher the job crafting is, the better the performance of extrarole behavior; so job crafting mediates the relationship between work engagement and performance of extra-role behaviors. These results show up as a new impetus to the dynamics of psychological processes in school settings study, which determine the teacher individual results and the school and students organizational outcomes. It is suggested a greater involvement of the school leaders in the outlining of strategies that foster the development work of teacher behavior job crafting. |
