We live in an era where the effects of climate change are intensifying and become alarming. Along with the degradation of ecosystems, biodiversity, soil, and water quality, also associated with anthropogenic activities due to abusive and negligent use of land resources, make agriculture one of the main sectors affected. Natural Based Solutions, through Ecosystem Services and consequent benefits, are seen as one of the best solutions to minimize the difficulties felt. Throughout this dissertation I try to demonstrate the importance of the way these resources are managed, and I present possible solutions for improvement in this sector. The highlight of these solutions is Regenerative Agriculture and the practices that characterize it. This is defined as a way of practicing agriculture through regenerative techniques with the aim of regenerating the ecosystem, improving the quality of soil, water, air and biodiversity. The results point to the extreme relevance of Natural Based Solutions in agriculture, as well as the great importance of regenerative practices in the fight against climate change and improvements obtained in this sector. Regarding the responses of farmers, it was unanimous that Regenerative Agriculture would be the most sustainable option for increasing resilience. Regarding the effects already felt by climate change, all suffered due to the low availability of water, and the vast majority also due to heat/sold waves, increasing the apprehension about the future. As for ideas of improvement, the answers differ, but point to more training of farmers focused on regenerative practices and more support/subsidies for greater adherence. |
