Infraestruturas industriais e espaço público: a linha de cintura ferroviária de Lisboa: intersecção do vale de Chelas com a frente ribeirinha

Abstract

A presente dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura, aborda o tema da linha de cintura Ferroviária de Lisboa, centrando o estudo nos espaços que são criados a medida da mesma e como estes espaços podem criar novas oportunidades de aproximar a cidade a esta infraestrutura. A investigação vai aprofundar o estudo da relação entre infraestruturas industriais e espaço público, e centrando-se a minha pesquisa na zona de Xabregas, perceber como este processo de industrialização na cidade afetou também o caracter patrimonial e cultural. Analisando também aquilo que era a relação desta zona da cidade e dos seus edifícios notáveis com o rio, relação esta, que seria muito importante naquilo que era as estratégias para a implantação destes edifícios junto a ribeira de Chelas, analisando mais concretamente o Convento da Madre de Deus, o palácio dos Marqueses de Nisa, e o Convento de São Francisco de Xabregas. Relação esta, que com o tempo se perdeu, primeiro pela construção da linha férrea e mais tarde pela construção do porto industrial. A dissertação tem como objetivo, mostrar a importância histórica e cultural de Xabregas, incentivando uma futura intervenção, cosendo a cidade desde a zona ocidental de Belém, até a zona oriental do Parque das Nações que também já sofreu uma grande requalificação urbana com a Expo'98.

This Integrated Masters in Architecture dissertation addresses the theme of Lisbon's railway beltline, focusing the study on spaces that are created according to it and how these spaces can create new opportunities to bring the city closer to this infrastructure. The investigation will deepen the study of the relationship between industrial infrastructure and public space, and focusing my research on the Xabregas area, understand how this process of industrialization in the city also affected the heritage and cultural character. Analyzing also what was the relationship of this area of the city and its remarkable buildings with the river, a relationship that would be very important in what were the strategies for the implantation of these buildings along the Chelas river, analyzing more specifically the Convento da Madre de Deus, the palace of the Marqueses de Nisa, and the Convent of Sao Francisco de Xabregas. This relationship was lost over time, first by the construction of the railway and later by the construction of the industrial port. The dissertation aims to show the historical and cultural importance of Xabregas, encouraging a future intervention, sewing the city from the western area of Belem to the eastern area of Parque das Nações, which has also undergone a major urban requalification with Expo' 98.
