Condições de trabalho em espaços de coworking: Um caminho a percorrer

Abstract

O fenómeno de coworking é uma forma de teletrabalho, sendo escolhido quer por trabalhadores por conta própria quer trabalhadores por conta de outrem, que se caracteriza essencialmente por um espaço de trabalho partilhado. Esta e outras formas de teletrabalho têm sido potenciadas pela evolução das TIC e por uma economia colaborativa e partilhada, tendo consequências variadas para os atores envolvidos, nomeadamente para os trabalhadores, pelo que se torna pertinente explorar junto dos mesmos qual a sua perceção relativamente ao modelo de trabalho em coworking. Assim, pretende-se compreender em profundidade as condições de trabalho físicas e psicossociais dos indivíduos em coworking, do seu ponto de vista. Sendo este estudo exploratório com metodologia qualitativa, o acesso à perceção dos indivíduos é efetuado com recurso a entrevistas, reunindo-se uma amostra diversificada de 22 participantes. Os resultados apontam para a existência de paradoxos ao nível das interações cooperativas em coworking, emergindo apenas em situações específicas, e ao nível de conflitos de papéis (trabalho-vida) resultantes da flexibilidade que os indivíduos em coworking vivenciam. O suporte social fornecido por chefias distantes pode também comprometer o trabalho de indivíduos com menor experiência profissional. Já a visibilidade das empresas que se situam em coworking pode ficar comprometida por este motivo. Adicionalmente, as maiores dificuldades sentidas centram-se em constrangimentos resultantes do open space, não sendo evidentes preocupações com Saúde e Segurança no Trabalho. A reflexão acerca das implicações destes resultados e limitações deste estudo permitem a exposição de sugestões para investigações futuras.

The phenomenon of coworking is a form of telecommuting, being chosen by self-employed but also covering employees, which is basically characterized by working in a shared space. This and other forms of teleworking have been boosted by the evolution of ICT and collaborative and shared economy, with varied consequences for the actors involved, particularly for workers, so it becomes relevant to explore their perception of the working model in coworking. Thus, it is intended to understand in depth of physical and psychosocial working conditions of individuals in coworking from their point of view. Being this exploratory study with qualitative methodology, access to the perception of individuals is made through interviews, gathering a diverse sample of 22 participants. The results show the existence of paradoxes at the level of cooperative coworking interactions, emerging only in specific situations, and at the level of role conflicts (work-life) resulting from the flexibility that individuals in coworking experience. Social support provided by distant bosses may also compromise the work of individuals with less work experience. The visibility of companies that are in coworking may be compromised for this reason. In addition, the major difficulties experienced are constraints resulting from open space, with no concern with Health and Safety at Work. A reflection on the implications of these findings and on the limitations of this research allows the presentation of suggestions for future investigations.
