Respostas à violência na escola: uma perspectiva sociológica

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como objectivo a análise das respostas à violência numa escola básica de 2.º e 3.º ciclo, partindo-se da hipótese de que as escolas que enfrentam problemas relacionados com a violência escolar definem estratégias concretas para responder a essas situações. Nesta pesquisa procurou analisar-se diferentes dimensões relacionadas com o contexto e as práticas e representações dos diferentes actores (em particular dos alunos), e a forma como as regras escolares foram mobilizadas para reduzir as situações de violência na escola. A estratégia metodológica utilizada privilegiou uma análise de carácter intensivo e qualitativo, procurando relacionar os dados empíricos recolhidos com os dados oficiais do Gabinete de Segurança do Ministério da Educação e outras informações estatísticas disponíveis sobre o estabelecimento em análise.

The main goal of the present research is the analysis of the responses to violence in a basic school (from 5th to 9th grade), working on the hypothesis that schools facing problems related to violence define concrete strategies aiming at finding responses to those situations. In this research we tried to analyse different dimensions with reference to the context, as well as practices and representations concerning the different actors involved in the school (students in particular), and understand whether the school’s rules were mobilized in order to reduce violence. The methodological strategy used in this research was based on an intensive and qualitative analysis, where elements such as the collected empirical data, official data from the Office of Security of the Ministry of Education and other available statistical information about the school in reference were all considered and interrelated.
