A religião e a
sendo, assim, garante fundamental da boa praxis Medicine and Religion are social processes through which the human behavior interacts with reality. Healing is a shared flexible concept, regarding a transformative experience, that mobilizes conceptualizations about the self, disease and suffering. The attempt to understand the presence of a chapel inside the psychiatric hospital allows the historic exploration of the relationship between the Catholic Church and the European Psychiatry, and also the complex interaction between religion and mental health/illness. Religion and spirituality in confrontation with mental health/illness provides an interesting frame for a multidisciplinary study, justifying the integration of anthropological, historical and clinical perspectives. The humanization of the Medical Sciences, in this case Psychiatry, enables the consideration for the subjective interpretations of suffering and its personal, familiar and social repercussions, ensuring a better clinical practice |
