Movimentos sociais: concetualizações e materializações

Abstract

Desde o início da presente década assistimos a uma nova vaga internacional de mobilizações sociais alargadas, reveladoras de uma crise de legitimidade política e denunciadoras das incapacidades de resposta às crises económicas, sociais e laborais. No caso português este ciclo iniciou-se com o protesto Geração à Rasca e alicerçou-se com o coletivo Que se Lixe a Troika, vinculando uma transição estrutural com os movimentos alter-globalização, originando um novo modelo de protestos massificados, classificados como novíssimos movimentos sociais. Este ensaio procura explicitar os alicerces destas mobilizações, tendo como base as identidades e as metodologias que as potenciaram e os mecanismos que permitiram a sua demarcação dos padrões caracterizadores dos movimentos sociais clássico-hegemónicos, a partir de uma interpretação do seu significado sociológico.

Since the beginning of this decade, we have witnessed a new wave of ample international mobilisations, revealing a crisis of political legitimacy and highlighting the inabilities of response to economic, social and employment crises. In the Portuguese case, this cycle began with the Geração à Rasca protest and consolidated with the Que se Lixe a Troika collective, binding a structural transition with the alter-globalization movements and giving rise to a new model of mass protests, classified as new social movements. This essay attempts to explain the foundations of these mobilizations based on the identities and methodologies that potentiated them and the mechanisms that allowed its demarcation of patterns characteristic of the classic-hegemonic social movements, from a sociological interpretation of its meaning.
