A intervenção social junto de alunos em risco de abandono escolar: o caso dos GAAF

Abstract

A partir da investigação em três agrupamentos de escola procura-se explorar as estratégias de prevenção utilizadas na intervenção do Serviço Social, em equipas multidisciplinares, em contexto educativo, junto de jovens em risco de abandono escolar, tendo em conta o trabalho realizado pelos GAAF, integradas em projectos TEIP. Pretendia-se ainda explorar as necessidades de intervenção social junto de jovens em situação de abandono; percepcionar as estratégias de prevenção do abandono escolar; identificar o objectivo do Serviço Social perante os alunos sinalizados e percepcionar a articulação do trabalho dos profissionais de educação com os assistentes sociais e diagnosticar resultados. Recorre-se, então, aos contributos teóricos como Germain, Gitterman e Bronfenbrenner, cuja teoria ecológica define o modelo de vida como um intercâmbio de experiências entre o indivíduo e o seu meio ambiente. Este modelo vê as pessoas em constante adaptação com o seu meio. A metodologia usada nesta investigação, entrevista, permitiu recolher informação junto de 5 profissionais, sendo três técnicos de Serviço Social e dois directores de turma. Em jeito de conclusão podemos verificar que é emergente a intervenção social junto de alunos em risco de abandono escolar; as estratégias de prevenção ao abandono escolar são adaptadas conforme as situações dos alunos sinalizados. Destacam-se as tutorias, sessões individuais e acompanhamento à família e encaminhamentos para outros percursos educativos. Todo o trabalho pretende envolver a família e o aluno nas actividades escolares.

From the inquiry in three schools it is attempted to explore the used strategies of prevention in the intervention of social work, in multidisciplinary teams, in an educative context, with youngsters in risk of school abandonment. For that it is considered the work carried out by the GAAF, integrated in projects TEIP. It was also intended to explore the necessities of social intervention with youngsters in abandonment situation; to perceive the strategies of prevention of school abandonment; to identify the objective of the social work in regards to the signaled students and perceive the joint work of the professionals of education with the social assistants and to diagnose the results. It is appealed, then, to the theoretical contributions of Germain, Gitterman and Bronfenbrenner, whose ecological theory, defines the life model as an interchange of experiences between the individual and its environment. This model considers people in constant adaptation with their environment. The used methodology in this inquiry, interview, allowed to collect information from five professionals, being three social work technicians and two class directors. In conclusion, the social intervention to students at risk of school abandonment is emergent; the strategies of prevention are adjusted to fit the situations of the signaled students. The tutorials, individual sessions and accompaniment to the family and rerouting for other educative paths stand out. All the work intends to involve the family and the student in the school activities.
