Estratégias educativas das famílias: estudo de caso de famílias madeirenses com crianças na educação pré-escolar

Abstract

Esta investigação tem como intuito apreender em que medida factores como a condição social das famílias, o género das crianças e a entrada das mesmas no jardim de infância influenciam as estratégias educativas das famílias. Para estudar esta parcela da realidade foram entrevistadas doze mães com pelo menos um filho em idade pré-escolar (dos 3 aos 6 anos de idade). A amostra foi definida no sentido de diversificar a condição social das famílias (entrevistei seis mães com uma escolaridade igual ou superior ao 11º ano e seis com uma escolaridade igual ou inferior ao 6º ano) e o género das crianças (dentro de cada grupo de seis mães, metade é mãe de meninas e a outra metade mãe de meninos). Conclui-se que as estratégias educativas das famílias se diferenciam consoante a condição social das mesmas e aquando da entrada da criança no jardim de infância, mas não se diferenciam no que diz respeito ao género das crianças. Tendo em conta a condição social das famílias distingui dois estilos de educação familiar: o estilo integral (onde predominam os Profissionais e Técnicos de Enquadramento) e o estilo casulo (onde predominam os Assalariados Executantes Pluriactivos). A investigação vem de certa forma confirmar o que um grande número de trabalhos, principalmente anglo-saxónicos, mostram, isto é, o meio social das famílias, o nível de educação e a sua profissão exercem uma influência decisiva, por um lado, sobre os valores e objectivos que as guiam na educação das crianças e, por outro lado, os meios que utilizam para os atingir.

This investigation has the aim to apprehend in what measure factors as families social conditions, children genus and their entrance in the kindergarten influence families educational strategies. To study this part of the reality twelve mothers with at least a son in the pre-scholarly age (from 3 to 6 years old) were interviewed. The sample was defined in order to diversify families social conditions (I interviewed six mothers with a scolarity level equal or superior to the 11º degree and six with a scolarity level equal or inferior to the 6º degree) and the children genus (within each popup of six mothers, half are mothers of girls and the other half are mothers of boys). One`s conclude that families education strategies are to be distinct according to their social condition and according to the time of the entrance of the child in the kindergarten, but they are not to be distinct in what genus children is concerned. Based on the families social conditions I have distinguished two types of familiar education: integral style (where professional and framing technicians prevail) and the husk style (where pluri-active employees players prevail). In a certain way the investigation confirms what a large numbers of waks, mainly anglosaxons, show, that is, families social environment, educational level and the profession exert a decisive influence, in one hand, on values and aims that guide children education and, one the other hand, the means used to achieved them.
