Abstract: Have Managers ever stopped to think about the importance of Social Media in business? Just a few short years ago, Social Media didn’t even exist and yet today we could not see ourselves without them. Not long ago, Social Media looked so new and different that it was treated as an addition of a kind of Marketing that should be tried only by “experts.” I believe that view still exists in some point today, although, it’s become clear to many Managers that Social Media is no longer Marketing’s new thing, but it’s now a new channel, part of the way Managers do Marketing today. This thesis studies the insights for a new strategic priority, to leverage the power of Social Media tools to maximize learning and increase the performance of the entire workforce. While most organizations have yet to fully embrace the use of Social Media in the workplace, there is a strong belief among the professionals surveyed that adoption of Social Media technologies will continue to grow in the coming years. Gradually, Social Media will impact almost every person, role, at every kind of company, in all parts of the world. Social Media is not really about technology. It's about a cultural shift that is enabled by the evolution of technology and this dissertation will study this usage in business.
