Abstract: | The aim of this article is to evaluate briefly the importance of cultural activities in Portuguese economy, identifying the main trends and opportunities for this cluster in nowadays realities. It’s discussed the concept of “cultural industries” and it’s analysed the role of the cluster in the Portuguese economy and society, departing from empirical information, both statistical and qualitative. It’s strongly emphasised the territorial dimension of the cluster organization, being used a comparative regional perspective to study the provision and consumption of these goods. It’s also explored the relation between the economic, cultural and institutional processes that are beyond the provision of these activities, which are central for its comprehension. |
