Por caminhos da água: costumes, saberes e hidráulica no Alentejo rural

Abstract

Através das memórias recolhidas na investigação etnográfica, são contempladas relações humanas com a água num local da região Alentejo, a freguesia de Arraiolos – que inclui a aldeia das Ilhas e a de Santana do Campo – numa época em que as fontes, poços, chafarizes, lavadouros, eram utilizados no quotidiano. Algumas destas infra-estruturas hidráulicas mencionadas são observadas com vista a um inventario que valorize as suas memórias. São apontados estudos antropológicos sobre a água para contextualizar a pesquisa etnográfica e também algumas escolhas teóricas. Por último, é apresentada uma breve reflexão sobre a história hidráulica no Alentejo e algumas questões sobre a água que estão na ordem do dia no intuito de obter um contributo para uma ética das relações com a água e a natureza.

Through the memories collected in ethnographic research, human relations with water are covered in Arraiolos parish – that includes Ilhas and Santana do Campo villages – in a time when springs, shafts, fountains, wash tanks, were used in everyday life. Some of these hydraulic infrastructures mentioned are observed in order to appreciate an inventory of yours memories. Anthropological studies have pointed out over the water to contextualize the ethnographic research and also some theoretical choices. Finally, a brief reflection on history of hydraulic in Alentejo and some water issues that are on the agenda in order to obtain a contribution to an ethical relationship with the water and nature.
