O teatro como mediador da diversidade: um estudo de caso na Associação Ditirambus

Abstract

Michel Wieviorka (2002), e Fernando Luís Machado (1997), são dois autores, que entre outros, discutem a questão da diversidade social, étnica e cultural presente na sociedade. Esta questão não é recente, contudo, actualmente, tem uma dimensão diferente devido à globalização, a uma maior facilidade de migração, etc. Por outro lado, encontramos vários autores, entre os quais Aurora Ferreira (2010), e Jaume Trilla (1998), que discutem como pode esta diversidade ser vista como uma componente enriquecedora da sociedade e não despoletadora de conflitos. Inserido nesta problemática, temos autores, que defendem, também, que as linguagens artísticas podem ter um papel importante no processo de integração destes indivíduos. Assim, este estudo pretende encontrar respostas na ligação desta realidade com a experiência teatral, através da pergunta de investigação: O Teatro, enquanto mediador de práticas e discursos, desencadeia o questionamento crítico em contextos sociais com diversidade? Nesta investigação foi observado um grupo de cinco jovens durante cerca de quatro meses, no processo de formação, encenação e apresentação de uma peça teatral, na Associação Cultural Ditirambus. Foi usada uma metodologia qualitativa e feita uma análise de conteúdo. As principais conclusões retiradas indicam que esta experiência permitiu aos jovens aprenderem mais sobre linguagem teatral. Ao mesmo tempo, os exercícios que fizeram e a peça em que trabalharam, ajudou-os a desenvolver um pensamento crítico acerca de si e dos outros, acerca das várias temáticas da diversidade e a reflectirem sobre as suas atitudes enquanto indivíduos inseridos numa sociedade em que a diversidade e, consequentemente, a discriminação estão presentes.

Michel Wieviorka (2002), and Fernando Luís Machado (1997), are both authors that discuss in their work the issues related to social, ethnic and cultural diversity, present in society. Although the issues related to diversity are not recent, they have a different dimension today due to globalization and to a lesser difficulty in migration. On the other hand, we have other authors, like Aurora Ferreira (2010), and Jaume Trilla (1998), that discuss ways of turning diversity not into a source of conflicts but into an enriching component of society. We also have authors defending that the artistic languages can have an important role in the integration process of these individuals. The aim of this study is to try to find answers in the relationship of this reality with the drama experience, through the following research question: Can theatre, while mediator of practices and discourses, develop critical inquiry in diverse social contexts? For this investigation we observed, during four months, a group of five youngsters during their training in drama, their rehearsals and the presentation of their theatrical play, at the Associação Cultural Ditirambus. It was used a qualitative methodology and a content analysis. The main conclusions that were achieved in this study lead us to believe that this experience facilitated these youngsters the process of becoming more knowledgeable about theatrical language. At the same time, the different exercises and the play that was put together, helped them develop a critical inquiry about themselves and the others, about the different issues related to diversity, and about their attitudes as individuals that are part of a society where diversity and, therefore, discrimination, are present.
