São Tomé e Príncipe: um olhar endoexógeno a partir da literatura

Abstract

Pretende-se com este texto estabelecer o paralelo entre textos literários e a realidade são-tomense. Para isso, basear-nos-emos nos textos de Albertino Bragança, político e escritor são-tomense. Na sua prosa, através de estórias do quotidiano, detetam-se panoramas socioculturais de um país que vive o entrecruzar entre modernidade e tradição, bem como a coabitação entre o tradicional africano e as influências ocidentais. Para além da visão endógena a partir da escrita de Albertino Bragança, analisaremos a perspetiva exógena, que é a perspetiva do viajante. Tomaremos como exemplo Miguel Sousa Tavares, num dos textos de Sul.

The text establishes parallels between the reality and literary texts in São Tomé based on the texts by Albertino Bragança, politician and writer of São Tomé. Throughout his writing including stories of daily life, we can catch the socio-cultural atmosphere of the country that lives somewhere on the borderline between modernity and tradition with traditional African and Western influences. In addition to the endogenous aspects of Albertino Bragança’s writing, we can analyze an exogenous perspective, which is a point of view of a traveler. As an example Miguel Sousa Tavares, and one of his texts of Sul, will be taken.
