Sombra na clareira: Alameda Keil do Amaral

Abstract

A presente dissertação é o resultado de uma reflexão sobre a relação entre arquitetura, natureza e território, a partir do estudo do Parque Florestal de Monsanto, em Lisboa. Ao analisar a Alameda Keil do Amaral, reconhecendo-a como um elemento central do Parque e perante a sua fragmentação e desarticulação, revelou-se a necessidade de uma intervenção capaz de restabelecer a coesão e a clareza deste território. A proposta desenvolve-se sobre a clareira existente na Alameda, assumindo o conceito de caverna como metáfora para o seu desenvolvimento. É através de um muro de contenção contínuo que se redefine o limite superior da clareira, articulando percursos, a vista sobre o Tejo e novos espaços de encontro e permanência. Todo o corpo do projeto é materializado em betão taipa, matéria que remete à estratificação do solo, evocando a memória das antigas pedreiras da Serra de Monsanto. Assim, a Sombra na Clareira nasce da paisagem e a ela regressa, fundindo matéria, luz e sombra, num lugar de continuidade entre a envolvente e a forma construída. O trabalho é constituído por dois tomos, um teórico e coletivo (I) e outro prático e individual (II), funcionando como cadernos independentes. Ambos são estruturados por capítulos isolados, o que permite tanto uma leitura contínua como aleatória, dependendo da seleção feita pelo leitor.

This thesis is the result of a reflection on the relationship between architecture, nature, and territory, based on a study of Parque Florestal de Monsanto in Lisbon. By analyzing Alameda Keil do Amaral, recognizing it as a central element of the Parque and given its fragmentation and disarticulation, the need for an intervention capable of restoring the cohesion and clarity of this territory became apparent. The proposal is developed on the existing clearing in the Alameda, taking the concept of a cave as a metaphor for its development. It is through a continuous retaining wall that the upper limit of the clearing is redefined, articulating paths, the view over the Tejo river, and new spaces for meeting and staying. The entire body of the project is materialized in rammed concrete, a material that refers to the stratification of the soil, evoking the memory of the old quarries of the Serra de Monsanto. Thus, Sombra na Clareira born from the landscape and returns to it, merging matter, light, and shadow in a place of continuity between the surroundings and the built form. The work consists of two volumes, one theoretical and collective (I) and the other practical and individual (II), functioning as independent volumes. Both are structured into separate chapters, allowing for either continuous or random reading, depending on the reader’s choice.
