Manufactura e agricultura: Novos espaços urbanos

Abstract

Foi feita a pergunta do tema do atelier: “O que te faz feliz?”, em viver na cidade. As respostas, foram multiplas e tais como a (in)temporalidade da felicidade e da arquitectura, a (in)segurança inerente às cidades, a continuidade daquilo que é público e do espaço partilhado, os diferentes modelos de cidade que proporcionam felicidades diferentes, o ordinário que permite que a cidade viva, e ainda a importância da relação entre campo e cidade. A presente dissertação surge, neste contexto, como mais uma resposta que, suportada por uma leitura e revisão dos conceitos de agricultura e manufactura, pretende formular um discuros em torno da iníqua dictomia cidade - campo; urbano - rural, através de três casos de estudo, organizados por ordem ascendente de escalas - Gartensiedlung, Victory Gardens e Instituto Superior de Agronomia; a casa, o jardim e a escola. Os casos de estudo mencionados, funcionam como percepção do lugar que a terra ocupava na cidade, enquanto que o lugar que a cidade também oucupava na terra é abordado através do uso selvagem da mão por oposição ao instrumento especifico utilizado na fábrica, recorrendo à alusão da mão como semente e do chão como fábrica. A compreensão destes temas e conceitos vigora na finalidade de que se contrua um penssamento coeso e uma acção coerente aplicada à vertente prática.

The question was asked on the theme of the workshop: "What makes you happy?", living in the city. The answers were multiple and such as the (in)temporality of happiness and architecture, the (in)security inherent to cities, the continuity of what is public and shared space, the different models of city that provide different happiness, the ordinary that allows the city to live, and also the importance of the relationship between country and city. The present dissertation appears, in this context, as one more answer that, supported by a reading and revision of the concepts of agriculture and manufacturing, intends to formulate a discursive around the iniquitous dichotomy city - countryside; urban - rural, through three case studies, organized by ascending order of scales - Gartensiedlung, Victory Gardens and Instituto Superior de Agronomia; the house, the garden and the school. The mentioned case studies function as a perception of the place that the land occupied in the city, while the place that the city also oucupated in the land is approached through the wild use of the hand as opposed to the specific instrument used in the factory, using the allusion of the hand as seed and the ground as factory. The understanding of these themes and concepts is based on the purpose of building a cohesive thinking and a coherent action applied to the practical side.
