Acesso e e tempo de oportunidade aos cuidados de saúde no SAMS: A perceção e a experiência da pessoa com doença oncológica

Abstract

A presente dissertação denominada Acesso e Oportunidade aos Cuidados de Saúde no SAMS: a Perceção e a Experiência da Pessoa com Doença Oncológica, centra-se no tema do Serviço Social na saúde privada. O Serviço de Assistência Médico- Social (doravante SAMS) tem os seus regulamentos e uma capacidade financeira limitada para suportar os encargos com os tratamentos oncológicos dos beneficiários, não existindo apoio direto do Estado. Com esta investigação pretende-se compreender a perceção e a experiência da pessoa com doença oncológica relativamente aos cuidados de saúde prestados no SAMS, na relação com o acesso e o tempo de oportunidade. Tratando-se de um estudo de natureza mista, combinando métodos quantitativo e qualitativo. As técnicas de recolha de dados foram o inquérito por questionário e a entrevista semiestruturada, utilizando-se o SPSS para a análise dos dados recolhidos. Aplicou-se o questionário a beneficiários/utentes com doença oncológica, acompanhados no SAMS, aleatória e voluntariariamente, obtendo-se 46 inquéritos válidos. A entrevista foi realizada a 5 profissionais do SAMS para compreender o circuito da pessoa com doença oncológica e categorizar as suas perceções quanto à garantia dos direitos destes doentes. Através da análise dos dados, concluiu-se que a perceção dos beneficiários é maioritariamente positiva, quanto ao acesso e tempo de oportunidade ao tratamento no SAMS, e na garantia dos seus direitos sociais. As entrevistas permitiram compreender a opinião relativamente ao acesso ao tratamento, concluindo-se existir rapidez de resposta, boa oferta de serviços de diagnóstico e monitorização, acessibilidade, qualidade e segurança adequadas.

The present dissertation entitled Access and Opportunity to Health Care in SAMS: the Perception and Experience of the Person with Oncological Disease, focuses on the theme of Social Work in private health. The Medical-Social Assistance Service (hereinafter SAMS) has its owns regulations and a limited financial capacity to support the costs of cancer treatment for beneficiaries, and there is no direct support from the State. This research aims to understand the perception and experience of the person with oncological disease regarding the health care provided at SAMS, in relation to access and time of opportunity. As this is a mixed study, it combines quantitative and qualitative methods. The data collection techniques were the questionnaire survey and the semi-structured interview, using SPSS for the analysis of the data collected. The questionnaire was applied to beneficiaries/users with oncological disease, followed at SAMS, randomly and voluntarily, obtaining 46 valid surveys. The interview was conducted with 5 SAMS professionals to understand the circuit of the person with oncological disease and categorize their perceptions regarding the guarantee of the rights of these patients. Through the analysis of the data, it was concluded that the perception of the beneficiaries is mostly positive, regarding the access and time of opportunity to treatment at SAMS, and the guarantee of their social rights. The interviews allowed us to understand the opinion regarding access to treatment, concluding that there is a fast response, good supply of diagnostic and monitoring services, accessibility, quality and adequate safety.
