Emoções e adolescência: A modulação da regulação emocional, empatia, afeto positivo e negativo e do clima familiar

Abstract

O principal objetivo desta dissertação é explorar o impacto da regulação emocional, do afeto positivo e negativo, e da empatia dos adolescentes no clima familiar. É introduzido o conceito de modulação no campo da Ciência das Emoções, utilizando uma analogia com a teoria da modulação em engenharia de telecomunicações. O modelo considera o adolescente como onda portadora, enquanto a regulação emocional, afeto positivo e negativo, e empatia atuam como sinais modulantes que moldam o adolescente para influenciar no clima familiar. Foram selecionados 114 participantes, com idades entre 12 e 17 anos (M=14,75), dos quais 88,6% são do sexo feminino, 86,0% provenientes do Brasil e 14,0% de Portugal. Foram utilizadas as escalas de Regulação Emocional para Crianças e Adolescentes (ERQ-CA), Empatia Básica Versão Breve Adaptada (BES-A), Afeto Positivo e Negativo (PANAS-VRP) Versão Portuguesa Reduzida e o Inventário do Clima Familiar (ICF) para adolescentes. Dos resultados, os adolescentes mais velhos recorrem mais à reavaliação cognitiva que adolescentes mais novos; a reavaliação cognitiva e a empatia associam-se positivamente com o clima familiar dos adolescentes; as raparigas recorrem mais à supressão emocional que os rapazes; o afeto negativo tem correlação negativa com a modulação da regulação emocional, empatia e clima familiar; o afeto positivo tem correlação positiva com a modulação da regulação emocional, empatia e clima familiar; a empatia não medeia a relação entre regulação emocional e clima familiar dos adolescentes. Portanto, o modelo de modulação emocional neste estudo é viável para analisar novos sinais modulantes, nos diferentes contextos, nos estudos em Ciências das Emoções.

The main objective of this dissertation is to explore the impact of emotion regulation, positive and negative affect, and adolescent empathy on family climate. The concept of modulation in the field of Emotional Science is introduced, using an analogy with modulation theory in telecommunications engineering. The model considers the adolescent as a carrier wave, while emotional regulation, positive and negative affect, and empathy act as modulating signals that shape the adolescent to influence the family climate. A total of 114 participants were selected, aged between 12 and 17 (M=14.75), of whom 88.6% were female, 86.0% from Brazil and 14.0% from Portugal. The Emotional Regulation for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA), Basic Empathy Short Adapted Version (BES-A), Positive and Negative Affect (PANAS-VRP) Portuguese Reduced Version and the Family Climate Inventory (ICF) for adolescents were used. The results show that older adolescents use cognitive reappraisal more than younger adolescents; cognitive reappraisal and empathy are positively associated with adolescents' family climate; girls use emotional suppression more than boys; negative affect has a negative correlation with modulation of emotional regulation, empathy and family climate; positive affect has a positive correlation with modulation of emotional regulation, empathy and family climate; empathy does not mediate the relationship between emotional regulation and adolescents' family climate. Therefore, the model of emotional modulation in this study is viable for analyzing new modulating signals in different contexts in studies in the Emotional Sciences.
