Abstract: | João Paulo Borges Coelho, nascido em 1955 no Porto, cresceu em Moçambique e tornou-se, na última década, um dos escritores mais produtivos e reconhecidos deste país. É também professor e investigador de História Contemporânea na Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. A seguinte entrevista a João Paulo Borges Coelho realizou-se em julho 2014, em Maputo. Os temas abordados são, entre outros, questões de identidade na época colonial e pós-independência, singularidades regionais da(s) cultura(s) moçambicana(s), a relação entre “modernidade europeia” e “tradição africana”, a articulação entre o espaço urbano e rural, a memória da luta de libertação da guerra civil, além de particularidades das diferentes obras do autor. João Paulo Borges Coelho, born in 1955 in Porto, grew up in Mozambique and became within the last decade one of the most productive and recognized writers of this country. He is also a professor and researcher of Contemporary History at the Eduardo Mondlane University. The following interview with João Paulo Borges Coelho was carried out in July 2014 in Maputo. The topics are, among others, issues of identity in colonial and post-independence era, regional peculiarities of Mozambican culture(s), the relationship between “European modernity” and “African tradition”, the link between urban and rural areas, the memory of the liberation struggle and of the civil war, as well as particularities of different literary works of the author. |
