Cidade paisagem agrícola. Coabitar num chão por densificar

Abstract

O percurso proposto neste trabalho assenta na vontade de continuar a fazer acontecer cidade, partindo da leitura da sua paisagem, da forma como se humanizou, tendo a presença da água no território como chave no contínuo processo de densificação da cidade. É o momento de um olhar novo, de manifestar ideias e convicções do que se acha ser a cidade futura. Para tal questionam-se temas, os sistemas naturais, o habitar contemporâneo, o espaço comum e a relação do corpo com o espaço e com a cidade. Deste modo, o trabalho é organizado em seis partes, cada uma correspondendo a um jornal e a um tema individual, sendo que o último convoca uma síntese e determina o conformar de uma arquitectura, em que um tempo, um lugar, a necessidade e o desejo se combinam numa construção. O projeto lança uma hipótese de ocupação do vale de Chelas, um território altamente permeável, que se pretende manter como tal, em paralelo com Monsanto. Negando a construção em extensão, o desenho da nova habitação faz-se em altura, nas margens entre os bairros consolidados e o vale, criando um sistema de refência pontual à grande escala de Chelas. Libertando o vale, propõe-se a extensão do seu tecido produtivo dando continuidade a um sistema verde articulado com um novo sistema de vida urbana.

The path proposed in this work is based on the desire to continue making the city happen, starting from a reading of its landscape, of the way it has humanized itself, with the presence of water in the territory as a key factor in the city’s ongoing densification process. This is the time to take a fresh look, to express ideas and convictions about what we think the future city should be. The themes questioned are natural systems, contemporary living, common space and the body’s relationship with space and the city. In this way, the work is organized into six parts, each corresponding to a newspaper and an individual theme, the last of which calls for synthesis and determines the shaping of an architecture, in which a time, a place, need and desire are combined in a construction. The project launches a hypothesis for occupying the Chelas Valley, a highly permeable territory, which is intended to remain as such, in parallel with Monsanto. Denying extensive construction, the design of the new housing is done in height, on the margins between the consolidated neighbourhoods and the valley, creating a system of punctual reference to the large scale of Chelas. By freeing up the valley, it is proposed to extend its productive fabric, giving continuity to a green system articulated with a new system of urban life.
