Qual o impacte da crise alimentar global na relocalização da produção?

Abstract

A dissertação apresenta uma investigação sobre o impacto das crises do século XXI, nomeadamente, a crise pandémica e a guerra na Ucrânia no sistema alimentar global, incluindo os sistemas alimentares locais. A investigação foca-se num sistema alimentar local, localizado na Sicília, mais concretamente na produção de variedades de trigo autóctones na região do sul de Itália. Utilizando a abordagem dos "regimes alimentares" são identificadas as circunstâncias que levaram à construção do atual sistema alimentar neoliberal, o Corporate Food Regime. Esta abordagem considera a análise das dinâmicas geopolíticas globais. Serão exploradas alternativas de modelo do sistema alimentar neoliberal, incluindo a relocalização da produção, a autossuficiência alimentar através da consideração dos conceitos de Soberania Alimentar.

The dissertation presents an investigation into the impact of the crises of the 21st century, namely the pandemic crisis and the war in Ukraine, on the global food system, including local food systems. The research focuses on a local food system, located in Sicily, and more specifically on the production of indigenous wheat varieties in the southern Italian region. Using the "food regimes" approach, the circumstances that led to the construction of the current neoliberal food system, the Corporate Food Regime, are identified. This approach considers the analysis of global geopolitical dynamics. Alternative models of the neoliberal food system will be explored, including the relocalization of production, food self-sufficiency through the consideration of the concepts of Food Sovereignty.
