Blockchain aplicada como catalisador de confiança e redução de nível de incerteza: implementação no turismo em contexto nacional português

Abstract

“Não é o mais forte que sobrevive, nem o mais inteligente, mas o que se adapta às mudanças” (Megginson, 1963). Esta expressão nunca fez tanto sentido como nos dias de hoje. Vivemos num mundo em constante mudança e a tecnologia que ontem regia a norma, hoje torna-se obsoleta. Neste contexto, a presente dissertação pretende desmistificar a forma como a tecnologia blockchain poderá ser utilizada no contexto do lazer e turismo. Analisaram-se-alguns case studies onde já é possível observar o setor da hospitalidade aliado à tecnologia blockchain, sendo este o ponto de partida para compreender quais as componentes que tendemos a valorizar enquanto consumidores destes serviços. Foi adicionalmente definido um plano operacional e financeiro para concluir se existe viabilidade em implementar a tecnologia blockchain no setor do turismo, de forma a reduzir o nível de incerteza quando o assunto é a partilha de dados pessoais.

“It is not the strongest that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one that adapts to change” (Megginson, 1963). Such an expression never made as much sense as it does nowadays. We live in constant change and the technology that was the norm yesterday is now obsolete. Companies and organizations constantly strive to meet the expectations of their customers, something that often leads to achieving ungrateful results. Like us, organizations also have some aversion to change, and as such, they end up putting themselves in a fragile position when it comes to staying competitive. In this context, this dissertation demystifies how blockchain technology can be used in the context of leisure and tourism. Some case studies were presented where it is already possible to observe the hospitality sector combined with blockchain technology, which is the starting point to understand which components we Portuguese tend to value as travellers. An operational and financial plan was subsequently outlined to conclude whether there is a feasibility to implement blockchain technology in the tourism sector as a way to reduce the level of uncertainty when it comes to sharing personal data.
