Abstract: | Recently, a number of reputable academic establishments have observed the fast growth of a new literature about civil wars, based on quantitative methodologies and privileging economic explanations. This literature, mostly rooted on a comparative analysis, seeks to uncover tendencies which allow configuring an universal theory of the occurrence, with the purpose of not only understanding but additionally informing the political decisions of organisms which are supposed to be managing it. The present article aims to bring subsidies for the discussion of the Mozambican case study under the stance of this new quantitative literature, trying to determine in which manner it may be useful to circumscribe and comprehend it. |
