Abstract: | Ainda que pesquisas anteriores tendam a subestimar a importância da felicidade no trabalho,
Although previous research tends to underestimate the importance of happiness at work, at all levels there is evidence that happiness has important consequences for individuals and organizations (Fisher, 2010) and that transformational leadership exerts a direct and indirect influence on happiness and well-being in the workplace (Abdullah et al., 2017; Arnold et al., 2007). Subsequently, and to explore this topic, a quasi-experimental study was carried out using the 5-D model of the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) for an intervention in the context of teams, involving leaders and followers. The objective was to understand whether an online intervention with the AI methodology could influence the assessment of leadership quality, as perceived by leaders and subordinates, and also what could be the impact of this intervention on the quality of relationships between team members and, finally, whether this intervention could influence the happiness of leaders and followers. 82 people participated in the study, including leaders and followers from 15 teams belonging to 9 organizations in Brazil and Portugal. Subtle improvements were found only in the quality of relationships perceived by the leaders. The influence of leadership on happiness also proved to be significant. However, the influence of the intervention on the perception of leadership and on the perception of happiness was not demonstrated. The results are discussed and future studies suggested. |
