Abstract: | A investigação aborda o pensamento social sobre o político. A componente teórica
The research deals with the social thinking on politics. The theoretical approach is structured around the concept of social representations (Moscovici), linked to the concepts of political culture (Almond & Verba) and state (Weber; Bayart), as well as to a precise definition of the subject of attitude (Chaiken & Eagly). The empirical was carried out in the city of Tete (Mozambique). The main fieldwork (2004) implied 61 semi-structured interviews designed to identify, in common sense speech, value (positive or negative) judgements of political objects referred to the state. The treatment of the empirical material allowed to distinguish, and analyze, a set of themata (Moscovici & Vignaux) which reveal social representations of the macro-political in Mozambique. These themata refer, respectively, to the colonial period (until 1974-1975) to the process of transition to independence (1974-1975) to the government of Samora Machel (1975-1986) and to the governance of Joaquim Chissano (1986-2004). The research is epistemologically placed in a tendentially constructivist perspective that refuses to consider the political as a given, but considers the political as a social phenomenon in permanent re-elaboration. Thus, the production of the political can only be understood in its true characteristics, looking to and from the societies themselves. The study seeks to explain how the common sense “thinks” the political; in colloquial terms, it analyzes what is in the minds of ordinary people with regard to politics in Mozambique. |
