Vítimas do “sexo forte” e agressoras do “sexo fraco”: relação entre as representações sociais do abuso sexual de crianças e jovens e as representações sociais de género numa amostra de estudantes profissionais

Abstract

O abuso sexual de crianças e jovens é considerado um problema de saúde pública, acarreta para as vítimas consequências mais negativas que qualquer outra forma de maus-tratos e é uma realidade transversal a qualquer cultura. Apesar do investimento realizado no estudo desta problemática, esta é ainda um tema tabu e envolto numa variedade de mitos que apenas contribuem para a ocorrência do mesmo. O principal objetivo desta dissertação é verificar se existe relação, e se sim, qual, entre as representações sociais de género e as representações de abuso sexual de crianças e jovens numa amostra de estudantes e profissionais das áreas da saúde, educação, ação social, direito, forças policiais, e outras com contacto com crianças e jovens. O presente estudo contou com uma amostra de 168 participantes e a recolha de dados foi realizada através de um questionário online constituído por três instrumentos de autorrelato - Questionário de Representações sobre o Abuso Sexual de Crianças – Histórias (QRASC-HIS), a Escala de Crenças sobre o Abuso Sexual (ECAS) e a Escala de Atitudes Pacíficas face ao Género (EAPG). Os principais resultados tornam evidente que as representações sociais de género estão relacionadas com as representações sociais do abuso sexual de crianças e jovens, na medida em que indivíduos com atitudes mais assimétricas face ao género apresentam maior legitimação do abuso sexual. Revelou-se ainda que casos em que a agressora é do sexo feminino e a vítima do sexo masculino são mais legitimados.

Sexual abuse of children and youth is considered a public health problem, which has more negative consequences for victims than any other form of maltreatment and is a cross-cultural reality. Despite the investment made in the study of this problem, this is still a taboo subject and is involved in a variety of myths that only contribute to its maintaince. The main objective of this dissertation is to verify if there is a relationship, and if yes, which is, between the social representations of gender and the social representations of sexual abuse of children and youth in a sample of students and professionals in the areas of health, education, social action, law, police and others with contact with children and youth. The present study had a sample of 168 participants and the data collection was performed through an online questionnaire consisting of three self-report instruments - Questionnaire of Beliefs on Children Sexual Abuse-Histories (QRASC-HIS), the Scale of Beliefs on Sexual Abuse and the Pacific Attitudes Towards Gender Scale (EAPG). The main results make it clear that the social representations of gender are related to the social representations of sexual abuse of children and youth and that individuals with more gender asymmetric attitudes present greater legitimation of sexual abuse. It was also revealed that cases in which the aggressor is female and the victim is male are more legitimated.
