O impacto das tecnologias de informação nas PME em Portugal

Abstract

O mercado das Tecnologias de Informação (TI) apresenta-se actualmente para as PME como um quadro de grande dinâmica e oportunidades, sendo as Tecnologias de Informação (TI) encaradas como uma importante alavanca da produtividade e competitividade das empresas. Este trabalho tem como objecto de estudo a análise do modo como as Pequenas e Médias Empresas (PME) em Portugal utilizam e avaliam o impacto das TI na sua actividade. Pretende-se identificar que tipo de investimentos em TI são realizados pelas PME, conhecer os planos de investimento em TI das empresas para os próximos anos e compreender que impactos as Tecnologias de Informação proporcionam ao nível organizacional e competitivo das PME. Os resultados obtidos no inquérito realizado no âmbito deste trabalho, confirmam a tendência do aumento de investimento em TI feito pelas PME em Portugal e a preponderância que as aplicações empresariais têm vindo a ganhar no negócio das PME. Este estudo comprova que as Tecnologias de Informação são uma arma competitiva fundamental para as PME. O investimento feito em TI tem que ser focado em objectivos alinhados com a estratégia da organização, que permitam à empresa integrar os seus recursos e processos de negócio e aumentar a sua flexibilidade e agilidade. Uma insuficiência de recursos financeiros, técnicos e de gestão na organização, constrange a capacidade das PME gerirem eficazmente os diferentes problemas e eventuais dificuldades geradas pela implementação de soluções tecnológicas.

The market of Information Technology (IT), it’s currently to SME a window of large dynamics and opportunities, and to the organizations the Information Technology (IT) is seen as an important lever of productivity and business competitiveness. This work purpose is the analysis of how the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Portugal use and evaluate the impact of IT in their business. This study seeks to identify what type of investments in IT are made by SME, to know the plans for investment in IT businesses in the coming years and to understand the impact that Information Technology has at organizational and competitive levels of SME. The results obtained in the work’s survey confirm the trend of increased IT investment made by SME in Portugal and that the preponderance business applications have been gaining in the business of SME. This study shows that Information Technology is a key competitive weapon for SME. The investment in IT has to be focused on objectives aligned with the organization strategies, allowing the company to integrate its resources and business processes and increase their flexibility and agility. A lack of financial, technical and management resources in the organization, constrain the ability of SME effectively manage the various problems and difficulties generated by the implementation of technological solutions.
