The purpose of this dissertation is the educational strategies implemented by the families that simultaneously have biological and adopted children. We attempted to compare the education given by the families to the different children, identifying possible similarities and differences. Does the education of the adopted child vary in relation to the biological? Does the education of the children vary according to the age of the adopted child and the age of the biological? How do siblings relate to this type of family? Are adopted children more troublesome than their biological children? For this purpose, mothers of families with this profile were interviewed, in which it was intended to reconstruct the educational process within them. These families have high academic qualifications, the biological children are older than the adopted children, having a maximum of 3 children. Adopted children were between 1 and 10 years old at the time of adoption. When confronted directly with the question, the mothers affirmed that there is no difference in the education of the adopted child, because it is adopted, but because it is a different child. However, throughout the discourse they refer, in the case of later adoptions, to tending to be more benevolent with them, compared to their biological children, because of the supposedly traumatic past of adopted children (despite this assertion always be consensual between the couple). We also conclude that the siblings relate in the same way as any set of biological siblings. And we can still conclude that the adopted children are not problematic children, in general, they are children like any other, but with different life history. |
