Agir sem poder: o papel da indispensabilidade funcional nas intenções de ação coletiva em grupos autoritários

Abstract

Este estudo analisa a indispensabilidade funcional enquanto moderadora dos antecedentes da ação coletiva, identificados no modelo SIMCA (Social Identification Model of Collective Action; Van Zomeren, Postmes, & Spears, 2012), num grupo autoritário: a Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR). A literatura refere que a indispensabilidade do contributo individual para o funcionamento de um grupo não é um motivador suficiente para determinar a participação em ações coletivas, por parte de um indivíduo (Klandermans, 1984). No entanto, será que a indispensabilidade funcional, a nível grupal, possuí um papel importante no que toca à ação coletiva? Os grupos autoritários, além da pressão social e hierárquica, podem possuir restrições legisladas à liberdade, pelo que é importante perceber as motivações para se envolverem em ações de reivindicação coletiva. Este estudo contou com a participação de 246 indivíduos pertencentes à GNR. Apesar da hipótese inicial não ter sido suportada, foram identificadas várias associações pertinentes entre variáveis. Estudos futuros são importantes para perceber algumas questões levantadas nesta investigação, nomeadamente acerca do papel preditor da indispensabilidade funcional nas intenções de ação coletiva.

This study examines functional indispensability as a moderator of the antecedents of collective action, identified in the SIMCA (Social Identification Model of Collective Action, Van Zomeren, Postmes, & Spears, 2012) model, in an authoritarian group: Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR). The literature states that the indispensability of individual contribution to the functioning of a group is not a sufficient motivator to determine participation in collective actions by an individual (Klandermans, 1984). However, does functional indispensability at the group level play an important role in collective action? Authoritarian groups, in addition to social and hierarchical pressure, have legislated restrictions on freedom, so it is important to understand the motivations to engage in collective claim actions among those groups. This study involved 246 individuals belonging to the GNR (235 males and 11 females). Although the initial hypothesis was not supported, it was identified the existence of correlations between the variables analyzed in this study. Future studies are important to understand some of the issues raised in this research, namely about the predictive role of functional indispensability in collective action intentions.
