O impacto do contexto partidário dos executivos governativos na evolução do PIB nacional desde a entrada de Portugal na Zona Euro

Abstract

Num mundo global marcado pelo poder financeiro e económico, o PIB é um indicador essencial para ajudar a compreender a riqueza gerada por um país em determinado ano. Assim, de forma a caracterizar a economia portuguesa e o seu desempenho nos últimos anos, é fundamental compreender a evolução dos valores do PIB Nacional ao longo do tempo. Para além de explicar o percurso do PIB em Portugal, no período entre 2002 e 2011, este estudo pretende analisar, no mesmo âmbito cronológico, o desempenho dos diferentes executivos governativos, e medir o seu impacto no comportamento deste indicador económico. Tendo como base as opções tomadas pelos diferentes executivos, pretendeu-se estabelecer uma ligação entre a variação do PIB Nacional e a variação do Investimento Público, procurando também perceber-se a relação entre áreas da governação privilegiadas e a família ideológica de quem governa. Os diferentes comportamentos do Investimento Público, do PIB e de algumas áreas da governação foram testados como hipóteses em função da ideologia política presente no executivo governativo. Com este estudo é possível compreender a capacidade de criação de riqueza da economia portuguesa e o seu contexto político-ideológico entre 2002 e 2011.

In a globalised world marked by the financial and economic power, GDP is a key indicator to help understand the wealth created by a country in a given year. Thus, in order to characterize the Portuguese economy and its performance in recent years, it is essential to understand the evolution of the national GDP over time. Apart from explaining the pathway of GDP in Portugal, between 2002 and 2011, this study aims to analyse, in the same chronological scope, the performance of different governing executives and measure their impact on the behaviour of this economic indicator. Based on the choices made by different governing executives, we intended to establish a link between the change of the national GDP and the range of public investment, seeking to also realize the connection between privileged areas of governance and the ideological family who governs. The different behaviours of the Public Investment, the National GDP and some governance areas were tested as hypotheses on the basis of political ideology present in the governing executive. With this dissertation it is possible to understand the wealth-creating capacity of the portuguese economy and its political and ideological context between 2002 and 2011.
