A intervenção do assistente social com pessoas idosas institucionalizadas

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como tema “ A intervenção do assistente social com pessoas idosas institucionalizadas”, sendo seu objetivo principal analisar a intervenção dos Assistentes Sociais em estruturas residenciais de forma a perceber como é que estes profissionais promovem e garantem o exercício dos direitos das pessoas idosas institucionalizadas. O trabalho identifica e caracteriza as políticas sociais de apoio à pessoa idosa em Portugal, contextualiza e analisa a organização e funcionamento das estruturas residenciais para pessoas idosas, procurando perceber como é assumido e garantido, naqueles contextos e através dos procedimentos do assistente social, o exercício dos direitos das pessoas idosas seus clientes. O estudo é do tipo indutivo, descritivo e privilegia uma metodologia qualitativa. Para a recolha de dados foi aplicada como técnica as entrevistas semidirectivas. Na fase da análise e interpretação de dados recorreu-se à análise de conteúdo categorial. Ao nível dos resultados constatou-se que a intervenção do assistente social é promotora dos direitos e liberdades das pessoas idosas institucionalizadas, na medida em que estes profissionais intimamente comprometidos com os direitos humanos e justiça social detetam, diagnosticam e analisam as necessidades sociais da pessoa idosa motivando-a à participação e procurando formas de dar resposta a essas necessidades, favorecendo a política de intervenção para a cidadania.

This investigation has the theme "The intervention of the social worker with institutionalized elderly people", its overall objective to analyze the relationship between the intervention of social workers, residential structures for elderly people and these users in order to understand how these professionals promote and guarantee the full exercise of rights and participation to this group which is institutionalized. The study identifies and characterizes the social policies to support this class in Portugal, contextualizes and analyzes the organization and operation of residential structures for the elderly, seeking to understand how it is assumed and guaranteed in those contexts and through the procedures of the social worker, exercise the rights of their clients. This study is inductive, descriptive and favors a qualitative methodology. The techniques of semi directive interviews were employed for data collection. At the stage of analysis and interpretation of data we resorted to categorical content analysis. In terms of the results it was found that the intervention of social worker is the promoter of the rights and freedoms of institutionalized elderly, to the extent that these professionals intimately committed to human rights and social justice detect, diagnose and analyze the social needs of the them motivating the participation and looking for ways to meet these needs that favor intervention policy for citizenship.
