Sucesso escolar de crianças e jovens institucionalizadas: intervenção do assistente social

Abstract

O “Sucesso Escolar de Crianças e Jovens Institucionalizadas: Intervenção do Assistente Social” é uma investigação que pretende sistematizar os fatores que promovem o sucesso escolar desta população. Para tal utilizámos uma abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, tendo sido realizados inquéritos por questionário a 41 crianças e jovens institucionalizadas, entrevistas a 8 técnicos dos LIJ e a 2 diretores de turma de um estabelecimento de ensino. Constatamos que quando falamos de sucesso escolar, há três aspetos a ter em conta: o próprio indivíduo, o meio social (o Lar de Infância e Juventude) e a instituição escolar. Os resultados mostram-nos uma elevada taxa de repetências, consequência do absentismo escolar e, sobretudo, da desmotivação para com a escola. Como tal, torna-se fulcral motivar estas crianças e jovens, promovendo o sucesso escolar e transmitindo-lhes a importância que a escola tem. Para tal, deve haver uma estreita ligação entre o Lar de Infância e Juventude e a Escola, trabalhando e desenvolvendo estratégias em conjunto.

The "School Success of Institutionalized Children and Youth: Social Worker intervention" is an investigation that aims to systematize the factors that promote school success of this population. To do this we used a qualitative and quantitative approach and was conducted questionnaire surveys to 41 children and institutionalized youth, interviews to 8 technicians from LIJ and to 2 directors of class of a school. We found that when we talk about school success, there are three aspects to consider: the individual, the social environment (the Home for Children and Youth) and the school institution. The results show us a high grade repetition rate, a consequence of truancy and, above all, lack of motivation towards school. As such, it is crucial to motivate these children and youth, promoting school success and giving them the importance that the school has. To do this, there must be a close connection between the Home for Children and Youth and the school, working and developing strategies together
