Crime e violência: as perceções dos investigadores criminais

Abstract

Determinados homicídios são apresentados á sociedade, como inexplicáveis e chocantes porque a violência exercida contra a vítima foi largamente excedida. A comunicação social, desde o século XIX explora intensamente os casos de homicídios mais dramáticos, mais cruéis, classificando os seus autores, invariavelmente de “monstros” ou “loucos”. Desde então até ao presente que a psiquiatria assume a função de encontrar dentro da sua área de conhecimento, explicações para os crimes que se evidenciam como irracionais, utilizando uma linguagem que pretende neutralizar o absurdo e devolver sentido e ordem à sociedade. Este estudo pretende dar a conhecer as perceções que os investigadores criminais de homicídios têm sobre as diversas faces que constituem a forma violenta que é o crime de homicídio, nomeadamente quais as circunstâncias, motivos e os autores predominantemente associados a este tipo de crime. A pesquisa que realizei centrou-se na experiência destes profissionais de polícia que lidam com esse fenómeno de violência extrema, pelo que recorri a entrevistas semi-estruturadas aprofundadas e ao tratamento de fontes bibliográficas, documentos, artigos e notícias. Com este estudo pretendo assim dar a conhecer a visão dos investigadores criminais sobre a forma como classificam esse tipo de crime que por vezes evidencia uma violência exacerbada, que escapa ao entendimento comum.

Some homicides are presented to the society as inexplicable because they are brutal in the sense that violence towards the victim has been largely exceeded. Since the 19th Century the media have been exploring intensively the most dramatic, most cruel homicides, classifying its authors as “monsters” or “insane”. Since then and until the present day, psychiatry has assumed the function of finding explanations, within its area of knowledge, for crimes that are most certain irrationals using a language that seeks to neutralize the absurd and to give back the meaning and order to the society. This study intends to show, through the detectives of homicides perceptions, the multiple aspects of the violent homicides: the circumstances, motifs and authors predominantly associated to this type of crime. The research I have conducted was focused in the experience of these detectives dealing with the phenomenon of extreme violence using profound and semi structured interviews and also the treatment of bibliographical sources, documents, articles and news. The purpose of my study is to share the vision of the detectives and the way they classify this kind of crime that often show an exacerbated violence that escapes to common understanding.
