A prática do Serviço Social com a comunidade LGBTI+ em Portugal

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação sobre: “A prática do Serviço Social com a comunidade LGBTI+ em Portugal/”, realizado junto de instituições com intervenção de assistentes sociais e centradas no objeto de estudo, com o objetivo de analisar a prática do Serviço Social com a Comunidade LGBTI+ em Portugal. A pesquisa foi estruturada em três eixos: i) evolução e conquistas sociais no processo de democratização e politização da realidade portuguesa; ii) suporte social, serviços sociais, suas práticas e finalidades; iii) mecanismo institucional e de rede de atuação na promoção dos direitos sociais. A investigação foi orientada numa matriz de estudo qualitativo, de natureza indutiva, tendo como objeto de estudo a prática do assistente social em contexto institucional. Na pesquisa empírica realizamos como técnicas de recolha de dados a entrevista semiestruturada, aplicada aos assistentes sociais em funções em instituições que trabalham com as pessoas da comunidade LGBTI+. Como resultado da investigação sistematizamos alguns princípios e indicadores que suportam a intervenção do assistente social junto da comunidade LGBTI+ na promoção do seu bem-estar social e na garantia dos direitos sociais. Deixando em reflexão alguns elementos sobre os processos de construção de identidades, transformação de pensamentos, desconstrução de preconceitos e aceitação das diferenças.

The present research work on “Social Work Practice with the LGBTI+ Community in Portugal” was carried out in institutions where social workers intervene and which are centered on the study object, with the aim of analyzing Social Work practice with the LGBTI+ Community in Portugal. The study was structured around three main axes: (i) the evolution and social achievements in the process of democratization and politicization of Portuguese society; (ii) social support, social services, their practices and purposes; and (iii) institutional mechanisms and network-based action in the promotion of social rights. The investigation followed a qualitative research framework, inductive in nature, focusing on the practice of social workers in institutional contexts. In the empirical phase, data collection relied on semi‑structured interviews conducted with social workers employed in institutions that work with members of the LGBTI+ community. As a result of the research, we systematized a set of principles and indicators that support social workers’ intervention with the LGBTI+ community in promoting their social well-being and ensuring their social rights. We also offer reflections on identity construction processes, transformations in ways of thinking, the deconstruction of prejudice, and the acceptance of differences.
