Intervenção da igreja católica em Angola pelos media (1975-2009)

Abstract

A Igreja católica interveio em Angola através dos Media. A sua missão religiosa é completada por compromissos de cidadania nas áreas da Justiça, Paz, Educação, Saúde, Direitos Humanos. Também pelos Media independentes da Igreja se pode concluir que as intervenções desta instituição foram decisivas para a obtenção da paz, a sua cimentação com justiça e para o desenvolvimento integral do país. Escolhemos cinco eventos significativos para o tema em investigação: 1.A „guerra Igreja-MPLA‟, via Media em 1989; 2.A celebração dos 500 anos da chegada dos missionários em 1991; 3.A vista do Papa João Paulo II a Angola em 1992; 4.O „regresso‟ da „Rádio Ecclesia‟ em 1997; 5.A visita do Papa Bento XVI a Luanda em 2009. Estudamos, por questões metodológicas, o arco temporal que está situado entre 1975 (data da independência) e 2009 (visita de Bento XVI a Luanda). A leitura da documentação relativa às intervenções da Igreja católica, as teses académicas analisadas, as respostas ao questionário e as partilhas de figuras ligadas a Angola provam a importância da instituição Igreja católica. Primeiro no empenho pelo cessar-fogo e, depois, no compromisso por mais justiça e pela pacificação dos corações, a Igreja católica foi a instituição que mais interveio pelos Media no período em estudo

The Catholic Church intervened in Angola through the media. Her religious mission is completed by commitments to citizenship in the areas of Justice, Peace, Education, Health and Human Rights. Even from the Media independent of the Church, it can be concluded that the Church‟s interventions were decisive in the achievement of peace, bolstering of justice and integral development of the country. We chose five significant events for the theme under study: 1. The „Church-MPLA war', through the Media in 1989; 2. The celebration of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of missionaries in 1991; 3. The visit of Pope John Paul II to Angola in 1992; 4. The 'return' of Ecclesia Radio in 1997; 5. The visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Luanda in 2009. For methodological reasons, the time frame of our study lies between 1975 (date of Independence) and 2009 (visit of Benedict XVI to Luanda). The reading of the documentation about the interventions of III the Catholic Church, some academic theses analyzed, the response to questionnaire and shared opinions of informed personalities linked to Angola prove the importance of the Catholic Church. First in the commitment to ceasefire and then the commitment for more justice and pacification of hearts, the Catholic Church was the institution that intervened the most through the Media in the period under study.
