Relações entre as condições familiares e o desempenho escolar

Abstract

Pretende-se reconstruir os percursos escolares dos jovens, de sucesso e insucesso escolar para aferir da relação entre as estruturas familiares e os resultados escolares, na medida em que se parte do pressuposto que o sucesso dos jovens em contexto escolar, implica uma boa relação familiar e, portanto, a actuação e as características da família serão analisados do ponto de vista da sua estrutura, escolaridade do grupo doméstico e classe social. Neste sentido, recorre-se aos contributos teóricos da Sociologia da Educação e da Sociologia da Família, que permite equacionar a importância do contexto e das estruturas familiares. Utilizou-se uma abordagem extensiva como metodologia, recorrendo à utilização do SPSS para a análise das 145 fichas individuais dos alunos da comunidade educativa de uma escola de Odivelas, que permitiu conhecer as características familiares dos mesmos e identificar, o percurso escolar de sucesso ou insucesso dos próprios, na medida em que abrange as avaliações do aluno ao longo do seu “caminho” escolar. As principais conclusões apontam no sentido de que o sucesso escolar dos alunos aumenta com a escolaridade dos pais e à medida que a classe social da família é mais favorecida. Também se verifica que os alunos provenientes de famílias biparentais obtêm maiores níveis de sucesso quando comparados com outro tipo de estrutura familiar, registando-se, no entanto, algumas excepções a esta tendência.

It is intended to rebuild the school careers of young, success and failure at school to assess the relationship between family structure and educational attainment, as it assumes that the success of young people in the school context, implies a good family relationship and therefore the performance and features of the family are analyzed from the point of view of their structure, the domestic group education and social class. In this sense, refers to the theoretical contributions of the Sociology of Education and Sociology of the Family, which allows equating the importance of context and family structures. It was used extensively as an approach methodology, resorting to the use of SPSS for analysis of 145 individual records of students in the educational community of a school of Maynooth, who helped identify the characteristics and identify their relatives, the school career of success or failure 'own, as it includes assessments of the student throughout their "way" school. The main conclusions point towards the academic success of students increases with parental education and social class as the family is most favored. It also appears that students from two-parent families achieve greater levels of success when compared to other type of family structure, registering, however, some exceptions to this trend.
