Famílias com filhos portadores de deficiência. Quotidiano e representações

Abstract

Este trabalho incide no estudo de 14 famílias com filhos portadores de deficiência intelectual, entre os 8 e os 18 anos de idade a frequentar instituições da educação especial e oriundas de diferentes concelhos da Região Autónoma da Madeira. No sentido de perceber a forma das famílias se reorganizarem após o surgimento da deficiência do filho, o estudo analisa várias dimensões da esfera familiar e social: a estrutura familiar, as atitudes face à deficiência, a organização do quotidiano doméstico, a conciliação do trabalho profissional com a vida familiar, o lazer, as redes sociais de apoio, as expectativas futuras e a influência da classe social na configuração das vivências nos diversos contextos sociais. Optou-se pela realização de uma investigação qualitativa utilizando a técnica da análise de conteúdo. Através de entrevistas semidirectivas organizadas em grupos de questões, foi possível estudar as diferentes dimensões da realidade social dos actores e, permitir demonstrar que nalgumas dimensões, existem diferenças determinantes entre as famílias estudadas e outras que não têm filhos portadores de deficiência.

This work happens in the study of 14 families with carrying children of intellectual deficiency, between the 8 and 18 years old, those frequent institutions of the special education and deriving of different places of Região Autónoma da Madeira. In the course to observe how the families reorganize after the emergent of the deficiency of the son, the study analyzes some dimensions of the familiar and social sphere: the familiar structure, the attitudes to the deficiency, the organization of the domestic every day, the conciliation of the professional work with the familiar life, the leisure, the social nets of support, the future expectations and the influence of the social class in the configuration of the experiences in the diverse social contexts. It was opted to the accomplishment of a qualitative inquiry using the technique of the content analysis. Through organized semi directive interviews in groups of questions it was possible to study the different dimensions of the performer's social reality. The conclusions allow indicating determinative differences, in some dimensions, between the studied families and others that don't have carrying children of deficiency.
