A perceção das redes sociais do idoso antes e depois da institucionalização

Abstract

Todos nós ao longo da vida sentimos a necessidade de estar inseridos em determinado grupo, meio social, com o qual nos identifiquemos. Os laços criados e estabelecidos ao longo da vida têm um poder muito grande no bem-estar do individuo. A alteração das redes sociais é inevitável e esta, está repleta de partidas e chegadas, o importante é que a rede se mantenha presente. O trabalho de investigação que é em seguida apresentado foi realizado com base no testemunho de vinte idosos residentes em lares no concelho de Aveiro. A finalidade desde trabalho é perceber junto de idosos institucionalizados, a perceção que têm da sua rede social (família, amigos e vizinhos) antes e depois da institucionalização e quais foram as principais alterações sentidas. Com este estudo foi possível concluir que as redes sociais do idoso sofrem muitas alterações depois da institucionalização, que a família direta é a que mantem mais contato, e quando isso não acontece o idoso manifesta muita tristeza, já o afastamento de amigos e vizinhos é maior, mas é encarado com mais naturalidade por parte do idoso.

Throughout life we all feel the need to engage in a particular group, social environment, with which we identify. The bonds created and established throughout life have a great deal of power in the individual’s well-being. Although the change of social networks is inevitable and full of arrivals and departures, it is important to maintain this network present. The research work that is presented was based on the testimony of twenty elderly residents in nursing homes in the municipality of Aveiro. The purpose of this work is to understand among the institutionalized seniors, their perception of their own social network (family, friends and neighbors) before and after the institutionalization and what were the major changes experienced. With this study it was possible to conclude that the social networks of the elderly suffer many alterations after institutionalization. The immediate family is those who maintain most contact and when this does not occur the senior expresses great sadness. On the other hand the estrangement of friends and neighbors is greater but is seen more naturally by the elderly.
