Formação inicial em Serviço Social em Portugal

Abstract

A presente investigação analisa e reflete a formação académica em Serviço Social no 1º ciclo, com base na análise das estratégias políticas e dos fundamentos teórico metodológicos que orientam os planos de estudo da formação inicial em Serviço Social, nos diferentes sistemas de Ensino Superior em Portugal. A pesquisa incidiu na Formação Inicial em Serviço Social, tendo por base instrumentos Internacionais, Europeus e Nacionais mais especificamente, os Global Standards for the Education and Training of the Social Work Profession, publicados pela FIAS e AIESS. Aplicámos uma metodologia qualitativa de natureza indutiva, através da realização de entrevistas aos coordenadores das 16 Licenciaturas em Serviço Social existentes em Portugal. Para a recolha de dados foram realizados vários procedimentos de forma a cumprir a componente ética e legal da pesquisa em Serviço Social garantindo a confidencialidade e o anonimato dos participantes. Concluímos que no presente, predomina uma estrutura curricular comum na formação académica em Serviço Social em Portugal, no entanto o processo formativo das diferentes IES emerge e edifica-se de modo diferente resultado das estratégias políticas adotadas pelas IES e devido às diferentes realidades institucionais.

This research analyzes and reflects on academic training in Social Work in the 1st cycle, based on the analysis of political strategies and theoretical-methodological foundations that guide the study plans for initial training in Social Work, in the different higher education systems in Portugal. The research focused on Initial Training in Social Work, based on International, European and National instruments, more specifically, the Global Standards for the Education and Training of the Social Work Profession, published by IFSW and IASSW. We applied a qualitative methodology of an inductive nature, through interviews with the coordinators of the 16 Bachelor's Degrees in Social Work existing in Portugal. For data collection, several procedures were carried out in order to comply with the ethical and legal component of research in Social Work, guaranteeing the confidentiality and anonymity of the participants. We conclude that a common curricular structure currently predominates in academic training in Social Work in Portugal, however the training process of the different HEIs emerges and is built differently as a result of the political strategies adopted by the HEIs and due to the different institutional realities.
