Percurso como narrativa do lugar: Reabilitação da 7ª Bateria de Costa do Outão

Abstract

Este ensaio surge como uma resposta crítica ao programa REVIVE no forte velho e na 7ª bateria do outão, na Arrábida. O programa REVIVE promove a reabilitação e reutilização de património público, para fins turísticos, a partir da parceria com entidades privadas. Esta iniciativa é bastante importante para a conservação do património, mas nem sempre considera a qualidade arquitetónica da intervenção. Este ensaio vem assim abordar a importância do conhecimento do sítio e a sua história, para que seja possível conservar os valores culturais e naturais de cada lugar A intervenção parte da vontade de criar uma narrativa em forma de percurso, que conecte o património natural ao património histórico e construído através da itinerância entre espaços que provocam diferentes sensações. A proposta projetual visa cumprir o programa turístico proposto em consonância com o edificado pré-existente num contexto único como o da Arrábida. No seguimento desse mote é desenvolvido um edifício que desenha o trecho de um percurso em diálogo com o lugar, o qual é posteriormente conectado a uma rede de trilhos que ligam a cota do Forte à cota inferior da serra, com outros trilhos existentes.

This essay comes as a critical response to the REVIVE programme at the old fort and the 7th battery of the outão, in Arrábida. The REVIVE programme promotes the rehabilitation and reuse of public heritage for tourism purposes through partnerships with private entities. This initiative is very important for heritage conservation, but it doesn’t always take into account the architectural quality of the intervention. This essay therefore addresses the importance of knowing the site and its history in order to conserve the cultural and natural values of each place The intervention is based on the desire to create a narrative in the form of a route that connects the natural heritage to the historical and built heritage by travelling between spaces that provoke different sensations. The project aims to fulfil the proposed tourist programme in line with the pre-existing buildings in a unique context such as Arrábida. In keeping with this motto, a building is developed that designs the section of a route in dialogue with the place, which is then connected to a network of trails linking the elevation of the Fort to the lower elevation of the mountain, with other existing trails.
