Os desafios do financiamento às startups: O caso de estudo do ecossistema português

Abstract

A temática do empreendedorismo e das startups não é recente em Portugal, mas tem vindo a crescer significativamente. A obtenção de financiamento por parte das startups deste Ecossistema português é de elevada importância, mas que também revela um grau de dificuldade acentuado. Com o crescimento de startups e do próprio Ecossistema é fundamental procurar meios e instrumentos que possam continuar a apoiar este tipo de empresas e seus projetos dado que acrescentam valor à sociedade e à economia nacional através da sua disrupção tecnológica e nova perceção de olhar para o mundo. Sublinha-se a intervenção dos principais agentes públicos (SUP, IAPMEI, PV, ANI e BPF) através dos seus mecanismos de financiamento e de Políticas Públicas destinadas a estas e também do sector de capital de risco que procura financiar estas empresas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo estudar os principais desafios enfrentados das startups do Ecossistema português nas diferentes fases de vida na obtenção do financiamento. Recorreu-se ao Ecossistema português para verificar as dificuldades destas startups na obtenção do financiamento, bem como procurou-se entender os efeitos tanto deste quanto do ambiente regulatório aplicado em Portugal para estas.

The theme of entrepreneurship and startups is not new in Portugal, but it has been growing significantly. The acquisition of funding by startups in this Portuguese ecosystem is of great importance, but it also reveals a high degree of difficulty. With the growth of startups and the ecosystem itself, it is crucial to seek means and instruments that can continue to support these types of companies and their projects, as they add value to society and the national economy through their technological disruption and new perspective on the world. The intervention of the main public agents (SUP, IAPMEI, PV, ANI, and BPF) is emphasized through their funding mechanisms and public policies aimed at them, as well as the venture capital sector that seeks to finance these companies. This work aims to study the main challenges faced by startups in the Portuguese ecosystem during the different stages of their life in obtaining funding. The Portuguese ecosystem was used to verify the difficulties these startups face in securing funding, as well as to understand the effects of this and the regulatory environment applied in Portugal for them.
