O pastoreio na regeneração rural e prevenção de fogos

Abstract

O vale do Cabril, tem sofrido diversas tentativas de atravessamento ao longo dos anos, para aproximar as duas margens. Inicialmente através da ponte Romana, em 1610 com a construção da ponte Filipina, depois com a passagem da Estrada Nacional 2 após a construção da barragem do Cabril em 1954, e em 1993 com o Itinerário Complementar 8. Apesar de conectadas de um ponto de vista físico, as duas margens não poderiam ser mais distantes, o que se revela um entrave na gestão de um bem comum – a margem. Abrangida pelo Plano de Ordenamento de Albufeiras, a margem do Cabril é um território protegido, não edificado e que se tornou num espaço florestal abandonado. O ensaio e o projeto, pretendem analisar e transformar, a forma como é atualmente feita a gestão do território e de que maneira esta pode ser um elemento agregador para as comunidades que a habitam. O projeto pretende a criação de um gesto unificador, aplicando o conceito de baldios à margem da albufeira do Cabril, possibilitando um uso deste território dormente. Ao introduzir um rebanho comunitário nos baldios, cria-se uma relação simbiótica, onde a paisagem serve os animais, da mesma forma que estes se tornam agentes ativos na manutenção da mesma e na mitigação dos fogos rurais. Neste contexto, propõe-se uma nova forma de reabilitar a paisagem florestal, substituindo as espécies invasoras por autóctones, de forma a recuperar a biodiversidade deste território e consequentemente, a sua fauna e flora. É desenhado um percurso de transumância ao longo da margem que gera espaços de sombra e água, permitindo o abrigo do rebanho e de outros seres vivos, possibilitando a ligação do humano e não-humano.

The Cabril valley has undergone several crossing attempts over the years, to bring the two banks closer together. Initially through the Roman bridge, in 1610 with the construction of the Filipina bridge, then with the passage of National Road 2 after the construction of the Cabril dam in 1954, and in 1993 with Complementary Itinerary 8. Despite being connected from a point of view physical, the two margins could not be further apart, which proves to be an obstacle in the management of a common asset– the margin. Covered by the Reservoir Management Plan, the Cabril margin is a protected, unbuilt territory that has become an abandoned forest space. The essay and the project aim to analyze and transform the way in which territory is currently managed and how this can be an aggregating element for the communities that inhabit it. The project proposes the creation of a unifying gesture, applying the concept of common lands to the banks of the Cabril reservoir, enabling the use of this dormant territory. By introducing a community herd on common land, a symbiotic relationship is created, where the landscape serves the animals, in the same way that they become active agents in maintaining it and mitigating rural fires. In this context, a new way of rehabilitating the forest landscape is proposed, replacing invasive species with native ones, in order to recover the biodiversity of this territory and consequently, its fauna and flora. A transhumance path is designed along the bank that creates spaces of shade and water, allowing shelter for the herd and other living beings, enabling the connection between human and non-human.
