As desigualdades de mobilidade espacial em Portugal continental

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como objetivo contribuir para o avanço do conhecimento científico relacionado com a análise das desigualdades na mobilidade espacial em Portugal Continental. Este estudo destaca os diversos fatores que influenciam esse fenómeno e explora os impactos do despovoamento, do envelhecimento da população, da cartelização dos transportes públicos, da pobreza em mobilidade e de infraestruturas, da perda de identidade cultural, bem como dos programas de governo. Espera-se que os resultados desta investigação proporcionem uma compreensão mais aprofundada das dinâmicas regionais, oferecendo perceções que permitam a reformulação de decisões de políticas públicas, tanto a nível nacional como regional, com o objetivo de alcançar uma maior coesão social e económica. Foram identificadas fragilidades nas áreas da mobilidade, socioeconómicas, infraestruturas e no acesso a necessidades básicas. As regiões do litoral demonstram melhores condições de mobilidade, infraestruturas e oportunidades em diversos aspetos da esfera social quando comparadas com as regiões do interior. Nesta pesquisa verificam-se desigualdades na mobilidade espacial em termos de oferta e de custos no acesso aos transportes públicos e infraestruturas entre as áreas urbanas e rurais. Também são identificados os modos de transporte utilizados pela população nas suas deslocações casa-trabalho e casa-estabelecimentos de ensino.

The present investigation aims to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge concerning the analysis of spatial mobility inequalities in mainland Portugal. This study highlights various factors influencing this phenomenon and explores the impacts of depopulation, population aging, public transport cartelization, mobility and infrastructure poverty, and the loss of cultural identity, as well as government programs. It is anticipated that the findings of this research will provide a deeper understanding of regional dynamics, offering insights that enable the reformulation of public policy decisions at both national and regional levels, with the objective of achieving greater social and economic cohesion. Weaknesses were identified in the areas of mobility, socioeconomics, infrastructure and access to basic needs. The coastal regions demonstrate better conditions in the terms of mobility, infrastructure and opportunities in various aspects of the social sphere when compared to the inland regions. This research identifies inequalities in spatial mobility in terms of the supply and costs of access to public transportation and infrastructure between urban and rural areas. Additionality, the modes of transportation utilized by the population in their commutes between home and work, as well as between home and educational institutions, are identified.
