Kimpa Vita, religiosidade kôngo e messianismo

Abstract

Revisitar a história da profetisa Ñsîmba Vita, mais conhecida por Kimpa Vita, surpreende pela riqueza de informações concernente ao domínio religioso kôngo. A partir de fragmentos destas informações resumimos aqui do modo geral o que seria a religiosidade kôngo. Também, encontramos as premissas do catolicismo kôngo que, em tese, constituem os alicerces do messianismo no antigo reino do Kôngo. O legado religioso da Kimpa Vita é visível nas acções de Simão Gonçalves Toco. Procuramos compreender a Tradição oral que estabelece - dentro dos seus códigos e metalinguagens - um parentesco entre Kimpa Vita e Simão Gonçalves Toco. Nos tempos contemporâneos, o messianismo em Angola impulsionou a luta de Libertação na criação de partidos políticos anticoloniais que conduziram a independência de Angola.

Revisiting the hhistory of the Prophetess Ñsîmba Vita, well-known as Kimpa Vita, we find out the wealth of information about the Kôngo religion. Fragments of this information are pointing out interesting knowledge concerning religiosity in ancient Kôngo. Also, we find the premises of Kôngo Catholicism that, in theory, constitute the Foundation of Messianism in the kingdom of Kôngo. Kimpa Vita’s religious legacy is visible in the actions of Simão Gonçalves Toco. We seek to understand the oral Tradition that establishes - within its codes and metalanguages as well - a kinship between Kimpa Vita and Simão Gonçalves Toco. In contemporary times, Messianism in Angola boosted the Liberation struggle in the creation of anti-colonial political parties that led to Angola’s independence.
