Arquiteturas na margem: O que te faz feliz? Espaços de fogo

Abstract

Enquanto espaço construído e habitado, a floresta suporta e simboliza a vida, enquanto a complementa e constrói. As florestas são paisagens consequentes de tempo e de vida, compostas por diversas camadas. Mas, ameaçadas pelo êxodo rural e pelo poder económico e político, apresentam-se cada vez mais industrializadas e sofredoras de monoculturas. Urge, por isso, a necessidade e vontade de perpetuar o direito às mesmas. O interior de Portugal e, concretamente, Pedrógão, conjuga episódios píricos com o efeito direto na destruição do território, sobrecarregando um clima já débil e frágil. Neste ensaio, reflete-se sobre as potencialidades da arquitetura do fogo no espaço rural - a capacidade de destruir e regenerar -, de modo a alcançar uma harmonização dos sistemas ecológicos e um maior controlo, dos tendenciais e cada vez mais frequentes, mega-fogos ou tempestades de fogo. Explora-se, ainda, a reflorestação, na tentativa de cuidar e proteger, afunilando a relação entre paisagem, infraestrutura, fogo e vida. Através de um elemento indispensável ao ser humano e à vida - o fogo -, pretende-se refletir sobre espaços que o acolham.

As a built and inhabited space, the forest supports and symbolises life, while complementing and building it. Forests are landscapes that are a consequence of time and life, made up of different layers. However, threatened by rural exodus and economic and political power, they are increasingly industrialised and suffering from monocultures. There is therefore an urgent need and desire to perpetuate the right to them. The interior of Portugal, and Pedrogão in particular, is a case in point, with its direct effect on the destruction of territory, overburdening an already weak and fragile climate. This essay reflects on the potential of the architecture of fire in rural areas - the ability to destroy and regenerate - in order to achieve harmonisation of ecological systems and greater control of the increasingly frequent mega-fires or firestorms. Reforestation is also explored, in an attempt to care for and protect, tapering the relationship between landscape, infrastructure, fire and life. Through an element that is indispensable to human beings and life - fire - the aim is to reflect on spaces that welcome it.
