Transformação digital para uma agricultura sustentável

Abstract

Num contexto global e de mudança, marcado por desafios constantes que afetam a população mundial na sua totalidade, é imperioso assegurar a sua alimentação e nutrição, sem comprometer a capacidade das gerações futuras. É neste sentido que urge a importância do desenvolvimento sustentável do setor agrícola, fazendo uso das mais variadíssimas tecnologias e práticas inteligentes e inovadoras. A presente investigação centra-se na criação de um modelo de transformação digital, baseado em boas práticas e medidas estratégicas, com impacto a nível social, económico e ambiental, que contribuam para a sustentabilidade do setor e, consequentemente, para o alcance dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Como tal, em primeira instância foi feito um levantamento exaustivo e respetiva síntese da produção científica da área em estudo, a revisão de literatura, o que culminou na recolha e análise da informação proveniente dos projetos de investigação SmartFarm 4.0 e SmartVitiNet, que representam excelentes contributos para o desenvolvimento da temática em estudo e elevam a potencialidade da agricultura. Seguindo a metodologia de investigação Design Science Research, e com base no conhecimento adquirido, foi desenvolvido o modelo de transformação digital, aplicável ao setor agrícola de forma inclusiva, e identificadas as boas práticas agrícolas que o concretizam. Os resultados alcançados permitem validar a questão de investigação, inicialmente estabelecida, concluindo que, efetivamente, a transformação digital permite a transição para uma agricultura sustentável, produzindo benefícios para os produtores e para a população geral, como consumidores de alimentos agrícolas.

In a global context of change, marked by constant challenges that affect the entire world population, it is imperative to ensure their food and nutrition without compromising the capacity of future generations. It is in this sense that the importance of the sustainable development of the agricultural sector is urgent, making use of the most varied technologies and intelligent and innovative practices. This research pretends to create an digital transformation model, based on good practices and strategic measures with a social, economic and environmental impact, which will contribute to the sustainability of the sector and, consequently, to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. For this purpose, was carried out an exhaustive survey and synthesis of scientific production in the area under study, the literature review, which culminated in the collection and analysis of information from the SmartFarm 4.0 and SmartVitiNet research projects, which represent excellent contributions to the development of the subject under study and increase the potential of agriculture. Following the Design Science Research methodology, and based on the knowledge acquired, the digital transformation model was developed, applicable to the agricultural sector in an inclusive way, and the good agricultural practices that materialise it were identified. The results achieved validate the research question initially established, concluding that digital transformation does indeed enable the transition to sustainable agriculture, producing benefits for producers and the general population as consumers of agricultural food.
