A voar entre as palavras: poética e performance de narrativas migratórias em Portugal

Abstract

Esta investigação surge dois anos antes da minha escrita, surge justamente após participar do meu primeiro poetry slam em Portugal e perceber um interesse incessante de poetas imigrantes, principalmente brasileiros e angolanos. Nessa arena de batalha comecei a me questionar quais eram as narrativas contadas ali e o que fazia aquele espaço se tornando tão importante para os corpos imigrantes. A curiosidade ganhou forças após perceber que das finais entre 2019 e 2022, cinco dos seis poetas eram imigrantes desses países e os três que venceram também. Para elaborar minha pesquisa, utilizo das performances, poemas e entrevistas de cinco poetas: carol braga, Huba Mateus, Jorgette Dumby, Lucerna do Moco e Maria Giulia Pinheiro. Me deixo ser levada pela poesia e pela performance desses poetas para compreender a migração de uma forma mais subjetiva, e a partir destas análises percebi uma recorrência entre três temas principais: a perda da língua, a perda da fala e a perda do eu, no qual ao longo do meu texto chamo de “as três mortes”. Entrelaço as três mortes com a vivacidade da poesia presente no poetry slam para concluir que é através dela que os poetas retomam o poder de contar sua própria história.

This investigation comes two years before my writing, it comes precisely after participating in my first poetry slam in Portugal and noticing an incessant interest from immigrant poets, mainly Brazilians, and Angolans. In this battle arena, I wondered what the narratives were told there and what made that space so important for immigrant bodies. Curiosity gained strength after realizing that in the finals between 2019 and 2022, five of the six poets were immigrants from these countries and the three who won were also immigrants. To develop my research, I use the performances, poems, and interviews of five poets: Carol Braga, Huba Mateus, Jorgette Dumby, Lucerna do Moco, and Maria Giulia Pinheiro. I let myself be led by the poetry and performance of these poets to understand migration more subjectively, and from these analyses, I noticed a recurrence between three main themes: the loss of language, the loss of speech, and the loss of the self, in which throughout my text I call “the three deaths”. I intertwine the three deaths with the vivacity of poetry present in poetry slam to conclude that it is through poetry that poets regain the power to tell their own stories.
