Caracterização do voluntariado patrimonial em Portugal, através da análise de casos

Abstract

Sendo Portugal um país tão rico em cultura e património, e que atualmente tem um grande fluxo de turistas que se interessam em conhecê-lo, é admirável que o voluntariado cultural registe uma menor apetência, quando comparado com outros setores de atividade como é o caso do serviço social e até religião. Apesar de ser possível encontrar alguns estudos portugueses relativos ao voluntariado cultural, a literatura existente é reduzida. Assim, a presente dissertação pretende contribuir para um melhor conhecimento da realidade portuguesa neste contexto, contribuindo para o estudo e investigação desta temática, em Portugal. Numa primeira fase, exploraram-se as oportunidades de programas de voluntariado cultural existentes em Portugal, revelando que o distrito de Lisboa é o que tem mais oportunidades de voluntariado e o Portalegre o que tem menos. Através desta análise, foi também possível concluir que a instituição que mais promove estas ações de voluntariado é o Banco Local de Voluntariado, estruturas locais implementadas nos concelhos onde se inserem. De seguida, através de três casos de estudo – Rota do Românico, DGPC e GAMNAA -, foi possível caracterizar estes voluntários e identificar as suas motivações. Na sua maioria são pessoas mais velhas, reformadas e do sexo feminino, no entanto, as suas motivações variam consoante o local onde se voluntariam. Enquanto as motivações dos voluntários da Rota do Românico têm muito a ver com própria ligação do Cuidador com o monumento, as motivações dos voluntários da DGPC e GAMNAA estão mais associadas a questões sociais.

Portugal being a country so rich in culture and heritage, and which currently has a large flow of tourist who are interested in getting to know it, it is surprising that cultural volunteering registers a lower appetite compared to programs in other fields, such as social work and even religion. Although it is possible to find some Portuguese studies related to cultural volunteering, the existing literature is small. Thus, this dissertation aims to contribute to a better knowledge of the Portuguese reality in this context, contributing to the study and research of this topic in Portugal. In the first instance, opportunities for cultural volunteering programs existing in Portugal were explored, revealing that the district of Lisbon has the most volunteer opportunities and Portalegre has the least. Through this analysis, it was also possible to conclude that the institution that most promotes these volunteer actions is the Local Volunteer Bank, local structures implemented in the municipalities where they are inserted. Then, through three case studies – Route of the Romanesque, DGPC and GAMNAA -, it was possible to characterize these volunteers and identify their motivations. Most of them are older, retired and female, however, their motivations vary depending on where they volunteer. While the motivations of the Route of the Romanesque volunteers have a lot to do with the Carers’s own connection to the monument, the motivations of the DGPC and GAMNAA volunteers are more associated with social issues.
