Chaves: Centro interpretativo e recreativo da paisagem do Rio Tâmega

Abstract

O intuito deste trabalho começa com uma investigação e análise na cidade de Chaves, partindo da sua evolução urbana e a forma como o rio Tâmega atua na sua identidade. Assim sendo, este estudo compreende a forma como o Arquiteto Álvaro Siza responde ao Programa Polis que lhe foi proposto um museu para uma parcela desocupada junto ao rio Tâmega. Siza intervém num território fragilizado pela passagem do tempo e vulnerável a cheias, desta forma, a sensibilidade do arquiteto releva a importância da preservação do espírito do lugar e atribui um novo valor paisagístico nas margens do rio Tâmega. Apesar de Siza só atuar naquela zona, justifica-se atuar nos restantes espaços marginais do Tâmega. A desvalorização do ambiente e a desqualificação dessas margens lança as bases para uma proposta individual para a requalificação das Lagoas de Chaves. É apresentado uma resposta prática que pretende recuperar e regenerar uma nova paisagem para este parcelamento abandonado pelo povo flaviense, ainda assim, houve uma forte necessidade para uma rigorosa limpeza ambiental e para a defesa do património natural das Lagoas de Chaves. Este ensaio vai em busca de uma tentativa de um percurso deambulatório que liga vertentes interpretativas e recreativas, desta forma, o projeto será objeto para retomar um novo sentido paisagístico e bucólico para o território em questão.

The purpose of this work begins with an investigation and analysis in the city of Chaves, starting with its urban evolution and the way the Tâmega River acts in its identity. Therefore, this study understands the way Architect Álvaro Siza responds to the Polis Program that proposed him a museum for an unoccupied space next to the Tâmega River. Siza intervenes in a territory weakened by the passage of time and vulnerable to floods, thus the architect’s sensibility highlights the importance of preserving the spirit of the place and attributes a new landscape value to the shores of the Tâmega River. Although Siza only acts in that area, he is justified in acting in the remaining marginal spaces of the Tâmega. The devaluation of the environment and the disqualification of these margins launches the basis for an individual proposal for the requalification of the Chaves Lagoons. A practical response is presented that intends to recover and regenerate a new landscape for this parcel abandoned by the flaviense people, yet there was a strong need for a rigorous environmental cleanup and the defense of the natural heritage of the Lagoas de Chaves. This essay seeks an attempt of a walking trail that connects interpretative and recreational aspects, this way, the project will be object to resume a new landscape and bucolic sense for the territory in question.
