As artes e o serviço social comunitário: Uma proposta de base metodológica

Abstract

Na atualidade, o Serviço Social mostra um interesse cada vez mais crescente nas artes, quer para a prática como para a pesquisa. Apesar de existir uma maior divulgação de estudos em países como os Estados Unidos, Canadá, Reino Unido e Israel é possível determinar que Portugal começa a abrir caminho a pesquisas sobre o tema e na relação entre as artes e o Serviço Social Apesar do Serviço Social fazer uso das práticas artísticas desde o início da profissão, com o trabalho desenvolvido por Jane Addams com imigrantes, a realidade é que os assistentes sociais têm negligenciado esta possível intervenção, uma vez que não existe uma estrutura metodológica artística concreta para a profissão. Perante esta lacuna, a presente investigação pretende criar uma proposta metodológica de base artística para o Serviço Social Comunitário. Para que tal seja possível, este estudo, de natureza qualitativa tem por base entrevistas a assistentes sociais e profissionais que estejam a trabalhar em entidades comunitárias, nas mais diversas áreas de intervenção. Com efeito, para além desse objetivo, foi possível compreender como os assistentes sociais percecionam o uso das artes no Serviço Social; como é feita a intervenção das práticas artísticas nas comunidades; as potencialidades das artes nas comunidades e concluindo-se que as fragilidades encontram-se sobretudo nos sujeitos de intervenção e questões inerentes aos projetos e não devido às artes per se, assim como a sistematização das artes na prática do Serviço Social nas comunidades.

In current times, at a global level, Social Work displays an increasing focus on artistic practices in the fields of research and professional practice. Despite the fast-paced development of this educational approach abroad, in countries as US, Canada or UK, Portugal proves to be in the earliest stages of research regarding the link Social Work and the education of Arts. Despite the use of artistic practices since the brink of social workers professional field, as showcased by the work developed by Jane Addams with immigrants, the harsh reality indicates that majority of social workers continuously neglect this interventional approach, claiming that there isn’t any artistic methodological structure that justifies its’ inclusion in the world of Social Work. Facing this current gap, this work aims to create an arts-based methodological approach to the Social Work field. To achieve that, this study is based on qualitative research, including interviews to social workers and assistants closely working in various interventional fields, with different communitarian entities. Beyond that point, this work sheds some light on the perspective and understanding of social workers have on the use of artistical approaches in their professional field; its’ application in communities; the artistic potential applied to into the communities and, to conclude, the fragilities found on the intervention’s participants and issues inherent to the projects, instead of Arts per se and their systematization in the Social Work practices into the communities.
